In a press conference at Queen's Park today, Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced a $3.3 billion cash injection to help frontline medical workers.
This money will go towards coronavirus test kits, expanding hospital capacity, and the general improvement of medical equipment that will protect nurses and doctors against contracting the virus.
"It's an unprecedented plan for an unprecedented time, said the premier. "It's a 17 billion dollars plan that will provide relief for people across this province. our plan is already in motion."
"Healthcare workers are the real heroes ... That's why were sending an additional 3.3B dollars to the frontlines of our healthcare system."
"We will spare no expense when it comes to protecting what we hold most dear, he added."
In Ontario, there are 858 people with confirmed cases of coronavirus. So far, there has been 13 deaths. In Canada, the total number of coronavirus cases has grown to 3,555 people with 35 deaths.
