Four people, including a child, are dead Wednesday evening and a fifth person was injured, following a mass shooting at an Orange, California office complex.

Lt. Jennifer Amat, a spokeswoman for the Orange Police Department, said officers arrived at the 20o block of  W. Lincoln Ave. at approximately 5:30 PM local time as shots were being fired. According to the Orange Police Department, upon arrival officers located "multiple victims at the scene including fatalities."

The location is a two-story office complex that contains several small businesses. According to Amat, officers were reportedly fired on as they arrived, and they returned fire. “The situation has been stabilized and there is no threat to the public." The suspect, along with a  victim, were transported to the hospital.

Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., tweeted Wednesday night, "I’m deeply saddened by reports of a mass shooting in Orange County, and I’m continuing to keep victims and their loved ones in my thoughts as we continue to learn more. My team and I will continue to monitor the situation closely."

Governor Gavin Newsom said the events were "horrifying and heartbreaking," and said in a statement that "our hearts are with the families impacted by this terrible tragedy tonight."

The ages and names of the victims have not been released nor have details been revealed about a possible motive for the shooting.

This is a developing story.
