United States Congressman Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) has reportedly gone on a "rogue mission" to enter Afghanistan and save Americans who were left behind. However, as of late Tuesday, US officials say they are unsure of Mullin's location. According to The Washington Post, the Republican Congressman went on this one man mission while ignoring warnings from the State Department not to travel to the Taliban-controlled country.

The last communication US officials have from Mullin came in Monday when he contacted the US ambassador to Tajikistan. His request was unusual in nature. He requested a massive amount of cash be sent into the country, saying he planned on travelling into neighbouring Afghanistan to rescue five American citizens, a woman and her four children, stuck in the country.

Mullin had allegedly planned to use a helicopter to rescue American citizens. He explained his plan as he was calling from Tbilisi, Georgia and was flying into Tajikistan's capital, Dushanbe, only hours later.

To Mullin's dismay, the answer from the embassy was "no." They told the Republican Congressman that they could not violate Tajikistan's cash limit laws and allow him to venture into one of the most dangerous places on earth. Mullin then allegedly threatened US Ambassador John Mark Pommersheim and his staff.

Currently, nobody knows where Mullin is and his office did not respond to multiple requests for comment from the Washington Post. "To say this is extremely dangerous is a massive understatement," said an anonymous State Department official to the Washington Post.

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
