BREAKING: Hunter Biden's plea deal falls apart over potential FARA charges

The deal appears to be "dead and off the table."

The plea deal reached by Hunter Biden's legal team and federal prosecutors has reportedly fallen apart after US District Judge Maryellen Noreika brought up the potential for future FARA charges.

CNN’s Kara Scannell said outside the Delaware courthouse that Noreika was "pressing the prosecution on this investigation and the four corners of the plea agreement."

A prosecutor reportedly said that the investigation was "very much ongoing" and Judge Noreika asked what was not covered under the plea agreement "if you are leaving the possibility for the being other future charges."

Noreika reportedly asked if the plea deal would include a potential FARA charge, which requires those working as agents of foreign entities to register, and the prosecutor replied that the deal would not.

She then reportedly asked Hunter Biden’s lawyers if they could bring a FARA charge, "then what does this mean?" The attorneys reportedly replied, "then there’s no deal."

The prosecutor replied to that, "then there is no deal."

"So Biden’s team said that the plea agreement, as far as they understood, it was now null and void."

In June, it was revealed that a plea agreement had been reached between the two sides, with Hunter Biden pleading guilty to two misdemeanor counts of failing to pay his taxes in exchange for a felony gun charge being dropped.

The tax charges carry a 12-month maximum prison sentence, while the gun charge of lying on federal forms while purchasing a firearm in 2018 stating that he wasn’t addicted to controlled substances despite his memoir stating that he was at the time, carries a 10-year maximum prison sentence.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
