After Sen. Kamala Harris met with Jacob Blake today, the Democratic vice-presidential candidate called his family "incredible" even though Blake's father has been cited for spreading anti-Semitism on social media.
When asked by reporters how the meeting went, Harris described the Blakes as "really wonderful."
"I mean they're an incredible family," Harris answered members of the press. "And what they've endured, they just do it with such dignity and grace. You know, they're carrying the weight of a lot of voices on their shoulders."
However, Blake (Jr.)’s father, Jacob Blake Sr., has posted anti-Semitic content across social media for several years now.
"The Jewish media picks and chooses who is a terrorists and is not," Blake Sr. posted on Facebook in 2017.
That same year, Blake Jr.'s father accused the "same pink toe Jewish people" of controlling the economy's interest rate and the mainstream media.
Blake Sr. also alleged that the Jewish victims in the October 2018 Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh were warned ahead of time.
"Warning for Jews in Pittsburgh[;] no warning for gunman in Kentucky," Blake Sr. wrote.
He even expressed support for notorious anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam.
Jewish National Syndicate reported that Dov Hinkind, founder of Americans Against Antisemitism, blasted Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in a recent interview on Tucker Carlson's Fox News show for meeting with Blake Sr.
The former New York State Assemblyman, a Democrat who is a leader in Brooklyn's Jewish community, criticized his party's pick and called the meeting "hypocrisy" and a “double standard" that his fellow Democrats need to recognize.
“It is just beyond comprehension. Someone who follows Farrakhan, the No. 1 anti-Semite in this country, someone who preaches hate for the Jewish people…and Blake is a follower of Louis Farrakhan spreading his hate on social media to millions of people," Hikind said on camera.
“So how in God’s name does the former vice president go and meet with this individual and praise this individual?”
Harris also reportedly told Jacob Blake "I'm proud of you" during the meeting.
While Black Lives Matter activists have framed the young black man's shooting as racially charged, Blake had arrest warrants for third-degree sexual assault and criminal trespassing.
Harris, a self-proclaimed champion of the #MeToo Movement and once California's chief prosecutor, immediately condemned Blake’s shooting by law enforcement officers before circumstantial evidence was released. The former attorney general still denies Blake's criminal history and pushes the anti-police narrative.
