Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley, the original lead guitarist and a founding member of the rock band Kiss, has died at the age of 74. His family confirmed he passed away from injuries sustained in a fall last month.

In a statement, Frehley’s family said they were “completely devastated and heartbroken,” adding that he was surrounded by loved ones in his final moments. “We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others,” they wrote.

Frehley, known to fans as “Space Ace,” helped shape Kiss into one of the most iconic rock acts in history. He joined Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons in 1972, staying with the band through their rise before leaving in 1982. He later returned in 1996 for a massive reunion tour and performed with the group until 2002.
