A court order from the Court of Common Pleas of Luzerne County said the location opened on Tuesday morning an hour and a half late.
The Pennsylvania Department of State has announced that voting at the polling location in Laflin Borough, which lies in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, will be extended until 9:30 pm after a court order.
"Voters in line before 8 pm will be able to vote on the county’s regular voting system. Voters who get in line after 8 p.m. will vote by provisional ballot," the PA Department of State announced, adding that polls in all other county precincts will close at their regularly scheduled time of 8 pm.
A court filing with the Court of Common Pleas of Luzerne County said the location opened on Tuesday morning an hour and a half late.
"In the process of administering the election on November 5, 2024, the Bureau and Board of Elections learned that election officers failed to timely open the polling location in Laflin Borough which resulted in delays in the process of voting," the emergency petition from Luzerne County’s Election Bureau and Board of Elections and Registration stated. "Said location did not open until approximately 8:30 am causing an inability for some voters to cast a ballot if they arrived at the polling location and had to leave prior to 8:30 am."
Also seeing extended hours is Cambria County, which saw widespread issues Tuesday morning as voters attempted to cast their ballots. Voting in the county has been extended to 10 pm.
