New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams has warned staff about potential protests by Trump supporters as the former president makes his way to court in Manhattan on Tuesday.
Her comments mirror those of NYC Mayor Eric Adams, who on Monday said that the city should be prepared despite there being "no specific threats" posed by those expressing their support for Trump.
"With the City bracing for possible protests following the indictment of former President Donald Trump by a Manhattan grand jury and his arrival in NYC today ahead of tomorrow's arraignment, I want to assure all of you that your safety and security remain my and this Council's top priority," Speaker Adams said in an email obtained by The Post Millennial.
"My office has been closely monitoring developments including the steps that the NYPD is taking to ensure security around the City. There has been no indication of a need for us to change our activities at this time, but we will provide additional updates as necessary."
On Monday, Mayor Adams warned that "there may be some rabble rousers who are thinking about coming to our city," adding, "our message is clear and simple: control yourselves. Our city is our home, not a playground for your misplaced anger."
He went on to state that while there were "no specific threats," the city should keep an eye on those making their way into the city from abroad, such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who Adams said "is known to spread misinformation and hate speech."
Trump arrived in New York on Monday, and while there were hundreds of supporters waiting for him, things remained civil. NYPD have been out in full force to ensure that the lead-up to his arraignment goes smoothly as well.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
