Democrat Mikie Sherrill has won the New Jersey governor's race, according to Decision Desk. This comes after polls leading up to the election showed that GOP nominee Jack Ciattarelli and Sherrill were in a statistical tie.

Ciattarelli narrowed a lead that Sherrill had in the weeks leading up to the election in the state often thought of as solidly Democrat. The race was called at around 8:15 pm after 17 percent of the vote was in.

In the last hours before the election was called, Ciattarelli posted several times, encouraging those in New Jersey to get out to the polls, doing so once an hour for four, two, and one hour before the polls closed at 8 pm.

Sherrill posted to X when the polls closed, "Polls have closed, and no matter the result tonight, I’m filled with gratitude. This campaign has been a love letter to you, New Jersey. Thank you for sharing your dreams and fears, and thank you especially to everyone who chipped in, volunteered, and trusted me with their vote." She did a similar strategy, posting to X multiple times leading up to poll closures.

Sherrill and Democrats in the state attempted to make the election for governor a referendum on Trump. Ciattarelli ran on restoring law and order in the state, slashing spending, and cutting back the influence government has in people's lives.

Earlier in the day in New Jersey, there were at least seven polling locations that were hit with bomb threat emails. Although there were a few poll location closures, each was secured within a few hours of the bomb threats.

Similar threats were reportedly sent to a few polling locations just north of New Jersey, in New York City, where the mayoral race is also taking place.
