Oprah Winfrey was hospitalized with a stomach issue, best friend Gayle King revealed on Tuesday, who added that the host is on the mend. 

"She had some kind of stomach thing where - stomach flu where stuff was coming out of both ends. I won’t get too graphic," King said, according to the Daily Mail. "But needless to say, she ended up in the hospital, dehydrated, she had an IV, so it was a very serious thing." 

When asked about Winfrey’s current state, King added, "She will be okay." the revelation came during King’s interview with author David Wroblewski, whose new book, "Familiaris," was selected for Oprah's book club. 

After explaining Winfrey’s absence, King added, "I hope she’s not mad at me for sharing that detail."
