"He left right in the middle of the semester, and I'm having a little trouble remembering why," Poilievre said.
The prime minister has yet to come clean regarding his mysterious and sudden departure from West Point Grey Academy in Vancouver, and in the years since, numerous explanations have been provided by his team, school officials, and reporters.
"I was a high school teacher before getting into politics," Trudeau began, "but I'm having a little trouble remembering exactly the job that the leader of the opposition had before getting into politics."
"Yes, and he left right in the middle of the semester," Poilievre fired back, "and I'm having a little trouble remembering why."
The Conservative Party leader's comments drew audible gasps from other members of the House, and many of his fellow MPs gave him a standing ovation.
Earlier in the encounter, Poilievre grilled the prime minister for being full of himself.
"So the high school drama teacher accuses others of liking the sounds of their voices," he said. "This from a guy who if he were made of chocolate he would eat himself!"
The two party leaders sparred over how best to help struggling Canadian families make it through the financial hardships many are facing, with Poilievre slamming Trudeau for the Liberal policies that helped lead to the crisis in the first place.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
