President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for the coronavirus late Thursday night, committing to quarantine themselves until fully recovered.

"We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!" the president tweeted.

The First Lady since tweeted: "As too many Americans have done this year, @potus & I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19."

"We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements. Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together," she added.

A memorandum written by Trump's physician Sean Conley reads: "This evening I received confirmation that both President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus."

"The President and the First Lady are both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence," Conley continued.

The doctor vowed to maintain a "vigilant watch" alongside his medical team, supported by "some of our country's greatest medical professionals and institutions."

"Rest assured I expect the President to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering, and I will keep you updated on any future developments," Conley concluded.

The lab results come after the counselor to the president Hope Hicks tested positive for COVID-19 earlier. "Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible!" Trump wrote at the time.

Hicks was in close proximity with Trump this week, traveling aboard Air Force 1 to and from the presidential debate Tuesday night. She also accompanied the president to his Minnesota rally the previous day.

While calling into Sean Hannity's Fox News show, Trump said: "I just went for a test and we'll see what happens." He continued, "Whether we quarantine or whether we have it, I don't know."
