Donald Trump was officially nominated as the Republican nominee for president on Monday at the RNC in Milwaukee. He announced his vice president and running mate Ohio Senator JD Vance. He was not expected to make an appearance at the Republican National Convention, yet he arrived on the floor, appearing with Vance, Tucker Carlson, and House Speaker Mike Johnson.

He entered the floor of the convention to cheers from the crowd that had nominated him that day, a wounded political warrior fresh from the fight. The crowd exploded with applause and a standing ovation.

The crowd chanted USA and "Fight! Fight! Fight!" and Trump acknowledged the crowd. His right ear was bandaged as a result of the assassination attempt on Saturday. Trump stayed in the audience watching speeches from supporters.

Trump was joined by Vance, who was announced as his vice presidential candidate on Monday and gave an interview to Sean Hannity. During that interview, he addressed concerns that he had not always been pro-Trump, saying that he changed his mind due to the success of Trump's first term in office.

This marks Trump's first public appearance since the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, when he was shot by would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks. Others in the crowd were shot, including Corey Comperatore, who was killed protecting his wife and daughter from the sniper's attack.

Support has swelled for Trump since the assassination attempt, with Elon Musk pledging 45 million a month to a Trump Super Pac shortly after the horrifying incident.
