A 19-year-old man arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Virginia mother was previously apprehended at the US-Mexico border and released into the country, according to a federal source cited by Fox News reporter Bill Melugin. "I'm told by federal source that the suspect arrested in Fairfax County, VA for the stabbing murder of a mother near a jogging trail in Great Falls, VA is a Salvadoran illegal alien who was caught and released at the border by the Biden admin in El Paso, TX in April 2024," he wrote in a post to X.



Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos was arrested Wednesday in connection with the killing of 42-year-old Carmen Lizet Puch, who was found dead Monday morning near Difficult Run Park in Great Falls, Virginia. Fairfax County police confirmed the arrest and released a photo of the suspect.

Melugin reported that a federal source identified Cedillos-Campos as a Salvadoran national who was apprehended by Border Patrol in El Paso, Texas, in April 2024 and subsequently released into the United States under the Biden administration.

Puch, a Reston resident, was found shortly before 7 am Monday in a parking lot near her 2011 Honda Civic. Police said she had suffered trauma to her upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Local reports have identified the case as a stabbing homicide.  Puch was 42 and had a young daughter, according to NBC Washington.
