President Donald Trump has approved the manufacturing of tiny cars in America, writing in a Truth Social post that the use of the small vehicles is in the "near future" and will be a "safe" and "fuel-efficient" option for many people wanting to get one.

Trump wrote in a Truth Social post, "I have just approved TINY CARS to be built in America. Manufacturers have long wanted to do this, just like they are so successfully built in other countries. They can be propelled by gasoline, electric, or hybrid. These cars of the very near future are inexpensive, safe, fuel efficient and, quite simply, AMAZING!!! START BUILDING THEM NOW! Thank you to the DOJ and the Departments of Transportation and Environment. ENJOY!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP."

Tiny cars, such as the Toyota Kei truck, and others, are used in multiple different countries have become increasingly popular among some in the US for their low cost as well as basic utility.

Some posted videos highlighting the features of the Kei truck after Trump made the announcement on Friday morning. Earlier on Wednesday, Trump said that the US would be loosening regulations and permits for smaller car production in the US. He had directed Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to remove barriers for marketing as well as manufacturing of the smaller cars in the United States.

The cars have previously been banned in the United States over saftey concerns. At the same time, the average price of a new car has been increasing in the United States, to around $50,000, per the Daily Mail. However Kei trucks as well as other similarly sized tiny cars are frequently sold new under $10,000.
