President Donald Trump’s transition team released a statement on Wednesday, where they said that “several” of the president-elect’s cabinet nominees and administration appointees were targeted in “violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them” on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

The statement says that the threats ranged from “bomb threats to ‘swatting.’”

“In response, law enforcement and other authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted,” the statement continues.

A tweet from Trump’s pick for the ETA Lee Zeldin indicates that the threat was from an anti-Israel activist. Zeldin posted on X: “A pipe bomb threat targeting me and my family at our home today was sent in with a pro-Palestinian themed message. My family and I were not home at the time and are safe. We are working with law enforcement to learn more as this situation develops.”

According to Reuters, another target was Elise Stefanik, Trump’s choice for US ambassador to the United Nations.

Other names include:

Lee Zeldin - EPA
Elise Stefanik - UN
Ambassador Brooke Rollins - Agriculture
Matt Gaetz - Fmr. Attorney General
John Ratcliffe - CIA Director
Pete Hegseth - Defense
Scott Turner - HUD
Howard Lutnick - Commerce

The threats come just months after President Trump survived two assassination attempts, including one in Pennsylvania this summer where he was shot in the ear.

Weeks later, another would-be assassin hid in shrubbery at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida. The alleged gunman, Ryan Wesley Routh, was armed with an AK-47-style rifle, pointing through the fence toward Trump. Trump was rushed off the golf course by Secret Service. No bullets were fired by Routh.
