On Friday, Donald Trump posted the $91.63 million bond set by a federal judge pending an appeal to the ruling that he defamed E. Jean Carroll.

By posting his bond, the former president can now prevent the original $83 million penalty from being enforced, and make his case to the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

According to the New York Post, the bond was guaranteed by the Federal Insurance Company.

In January, Trump was ordered to pay $83 million by a jury after having been found liable of defaming Carroll and sexually assaulting her. Carroll had claimed that Trump "raped" her sometime between 1994 or 1996, and that in the years since, the real estate mogul-turned-president had publicly repeated lies about her.

In a statement to posted to Truth Social, Trump called the verdict "absolutely ridiculous."

"I fully disagree with both verdicts, and will be appealing this whole Biden Directed Witch Hunt focused on me and the Republican Party," he said. "Our Legal System is out of control, and being used as a Political Weapon. They have taken away all First Amendment Rights. THIS IS NOT AMERICA!"

This is a breaking story. Check back for updates.
