President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the Democrats are the people who leaked information on the Iran bombing and called for their prosecution.

Trump posted to Truth Social, "The Democrats are the ones who leaked the information on the PERFECT FLIGHT to the Nuclear Sites in Iran. They should be prosecuted!"

Earlier on Thursday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth revealed that a preliminary report leaked to CNN on the bombings, which then made the rounds in the media, was based on "low confidence."

Hegseth said during the press conference that a leaker with a “political agenda” had sent information to the press about the report, which that outlet suggested was not a success. Hegseth said that the assessment said "in writing that it requires weeks to accumulate the necessary data to make such an assessment."

"It's not been coordinated with the intelligence community at all. There's low confidence in this particular report," Hegseth added at the time.

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also said the FBI will be investigating the leak of the top-secret preliminary report on the Iran bombing.

"They took bits and pieces from a leaked top secret intelligence report, and by the way, I understand the FBI is investigating who was the source of that leak, because it's an illegal leak to CNN," Leavitt told the press.

When Trump was asked about the CNN report earlier in the week, he responded, "That place is demolished. The B-2 pilots did their job, they did it better than anyone could imagine."

On Thursday, even CNN analyst for global affairs Brett McGurk said on air the strikes "seemed to have worked flawlessly," and that the he was confident the "centrifuges are gone" at Fordow.
