During a press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday, President-elect Donald Trump announced that his administration would be renaming the Guld of Mexico to the "Gulf of America."

The comments came after he announced an investment of $20 billion from DAMAC Properties. Trump said, "We're going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America."

"It has a beautiful ring. It covers a lot of territory. The Gulf of America. What a beautiful name. And, it's appropriate."

He added that Mexico “has to stop allowing millions of people to pour into our country. They can stop them.” Trump added that Mexico as well as Canada may face tariffs from his administration if they do not stop allowing illegal immigrants from coming over the borders of the United States.

Trump added, "We are approaching the Golden Age of America." He then spoke about the resources that the United States has and emphasized that many green energy alternatives are not worth the investment, such as windmills. He said that clean natural gas is much more efficient and cheaper.

He added that America will also be entering a golden age of "common sense," and slammed President Joe Biden for trying to ban drilling on over 625 acres of offshore and coastal areas for oil.

When Biden made the announcement for the oil ban, Trump’s team responded on Monday, "This is a disgraceful decision designed to exact political revenge on the American people who gave President Trump a mandate to increase drilling and lower gas prices."
