"We're going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition."

President Donald Trump said that the US will be running Venezuela for the time being until there can be a safe transition of power to the next authority in the country. This comes after the Trump administration captured Nicholas Maduro after conducting strikes in the country.

Trump announced, "We're going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition, so we don't want to be involved with having somebody else get in and we have the same situation that we had for the last long period of years. So we are going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition, and it has to be judicious, because that's what we're all about."

The president congratulated the US military personnel who conducted the capture of Maduro and said that there were no American lives or US military equipment lost in the operation to capture the leader.

“Not a single American service member was killed —The United States Military is the strongest and most fearsome military on the planet," Trump said of the operation.

"The American Armada remains poised in position, and the United States retains all military options until the United States demands have been fully met and fully satisfied," Trump added warning that other leaders may be face the same fate as Maduro. "All political and military figures in Venezuela should understand what happened to Maduro can happen to them, and it will happen to them if they aren't just fair even to their people."

Maduro has been indicted on charges in the Southern District Court of New York in 2020 related to narcoterrorism. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the US gave Maduro several off-ramps prior to the operation to capture him but the Venezuelan leader did not yield.
