"Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED."
"Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!" the president said in a post.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also posted Sunday about the deal and the role played by his nation as a mediator between the United States and Iran. An official signing ceremony scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland.
In a statement posted to social media, Sharif said both sides had agreed to the "immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon."
"Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED," Sharif wrote.
Sharif said mediators would facilitate a series of meetings this week ahead of the agreement's implementation and the formal signing ceremony. The Pakistani leader credited the mediation efforts of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, thanking their leaders for helping secure the agreement.
The announcement came shortly after President Donald Trump posted on social media that "Iran will never have a Nuclear weapon, and the Strait of Hormuz will be opening up for business very shortly!!!"
Vice President JD Vance told Fox News the agreement includes the following provisions:
• It blocks Iran from ever pursuing, procuring, or obtaining a nuclear weapon
• It immediately opens the Strait of Hormuz
• It lifts the U.S. naval blockade
• It opens the door to major investments across the region
"I certainly plan to be there, but it's possible President Trump could be there," the vice president said to Fox News.
This is a breaking news story.
