BREAKING: Utah man charged with making multiple homemade bombs, threatening to 'blow up' synagogue

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Utah and was found in possession of multiple homemade bombs. Skyler Rose has been charged with multiple felonies, including seven counts of possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

Ogden police said that at around 4:30 pm on December 23, the department was notified by the Utah Statewide Information and Analysis Center "of a threat of serious violence that had surfaced online." The information had come from a tip that was received by the FBI’s Salt Lake City Field Office, "which indicated the threats were broadly directed toward members of the Jewish community and their places of worship."

Detectives obtained a search warrant for a home in the 1300 block of Millcreek Drive, during the execution of which investigators "located explosive devices, explosive materials, and multiple firearms." Authorities reportedly found a partially completed pipe bomb in Rose’s bedroom as well as a glass container that was later confirmed to be marijuana. An additional six bombs were located.

Court documents stated, "At this time, the bombs appear to be completed and operational. In Skyler’s bedroom, an assault rifle was located." Rose had reportedly made multiple threats online, including one that allegedly stated, "I wanna blow up a synagogue."

Rose has been charged with seven counts of possessing weapons of mass destruction, a first-degree felony; threat of terrorism, a second-degree felony; prohibited conduct with a dangerous weapon as a restricted person, a third-degree felony; and misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
