"About two hours ago, as you know, Andrew, I was a little worried that we were going to have to cancel the event."
"I love Erica, and I know that she did get some threats. And you know, about two hours ago, as you know, Andrew, I was a little worried that we were going to have to cancel the event because Erika was not going to come. And she was very worried about it. And I talked to the Secret Service, and obviously these guys do a very good job."
"I said, You know what, let's let Erica do what she needs to do for herself and her family. I'm sure Andrew will fill in, and let's go and make this an amazing event with the Georgia Bulldogs," Vance added.
Kirk said of the event, "I was so looking forward to tonight’s event at the @universityofga with our Vice President @JDVance, but after all our family has been through, I take my security team’s recommendations extremely seriously. Thank you to our amazing Georgia chapter for your support. God bless you all!"
It was reported by Mary Margaret Olohan that "people were doxxing her travel location and trying to track her arrival and departure, I’m told, and there were multiple direct threats against Erika specifically. This ultimately led to her security’s assessment that they couldn’t guarantee her safety."
A TPUSA official said, “The event venue itself was fine, especially once VP was on site, but it was the travel portion that was of chief concern."
Vance also took aim at those who have been critical of Erika as she has been having to deal with the loss of her husband.
"The people telling you that Erica wasn't grieving her husband are full of sh*t, and we need to be honest," Vance said. "But if your instinct is to go after a young mother because she's grieving in a way that you find wrong, well, why don't you stay in your lane and mind your own business?"
The events with Vance drew a huge crowd of supporters as well as some critics of the Trump administration.
Vance spoke about number of policy topics, including immigration under the Biden administration. He said that H1-B visas are down 90 percent in the US. "There were literally millions of people coming into the United States every single year on false asylum claims. We have those claims down something like north of 95 percent," Vance said.
He detailed how the asylum process had been taken advantage of under the Biden administration.
With immigration, Vance also talked about how a crackdown on the border has been to protect women and children from being sex trafficked. He commented that some of those in the Catholic clergy have attacked the president over the issue, but then added, "How is it humane to allow drug traffickers and sex traffickers to bring little kids across the southern border?"
During his appearance, Vance also called left-wing violence that has taken place with the assassination of Kirk as well as the assault of TPUSA reporter Savanah Hernandez that took place over the weekend.
