Two attorneys were shot outside Raleigh’s Wake County Courthouse on Friday, suffering injuries from the incident. A suspect identified as 57-year-old Gwendolyn White has been taken into custody for the shooting. White has been charged with attempted murder.

The two attorneys had been representing the Rolesville Police Department in a North Carolina civil case involving officer-worn body camera video, per WRAL. The woman accused of shooting the two attorneys, who are employed by Fox Rothschild, had been involved in the case. The attorneys have been identified as associate Mary Harris and counsel Jeffrey Whitley.

Raleigh Chief of Police Rico Boyce said that "the suspect became belligerent in court," and after she left the courthouse, she went to her car, got a handgun, and shot the attorneys as they exited the building. White claims that the content of the body camera footage is related to the 2025 death of her mother.

Harris' father told WRAL that she had undergone surgery and is in stable condition as of Friday evening.

The Town of Rolesville said in a statement, "We are saddened to learn that two attorneys representing the Town of Rolesville in a civil matter were shot outside the Wake County Courthouse this morning. Fox Rothschild has represented the Town of Rolesville for decades, and while they are not employees of the Town, this incident is deeply disturbing. We are thankful to the first responders who provided life-saving care and apprehended a suspect. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved."

This is a breaking story.
