What was initially supposed to be a peaceful protest in Brussels, Belgium rapidly devolved into a riot as people hurled bricks through luxury-store windows and other buildings before looting them.

The gatherings began as protests that were comprised of attendees chanting "Black Lives Matter!" and "No Justice! No Peace!" and "Being black is not a crime!" in the wake of other anti-police protests in the wake of George Floyd's death in Minneapolis.

At other times, a cluster of protesters can be seen marching down the street peacefully.

But it started to get out of hand when protesters came to a standstill with Brussels law enforcement, who stood with helmets and shields.

Protesters-turned-rioters spun away from the authorities after starting a fire, rumbling down the street to cause more mayhem.

Rioters began smashing in windows and throwing bricks as the police approached from down the street.

Many of the protests around the world have been called "peaceful," as described by MSNBC and the BBC, but it appears that it only remains that way for so long before it turns into rioting and looting, where many people have been injured or killed as a result.
