California surrogate pregnant with Chinese billionaire's baby discovers he's fathered hundreds of children

A California woman has discovered that she is the surrogate for a Chinese billionaire who has allegedly gone through the process with other women to birth what is alleged to be upwards of 300 babies. 

The woman, identified only as Judy, spoke with CBS News about the matter. She said she felt “blindsided” and “misled” to learn that the Chinese billionaire who is the father of the child she is carrying has had at least 100 children through surrogate mothers. 

Per CBS News, the man at the center of the vast number of children is Xu Bo, a Chinese billionaire and video game executive. He is reported to have over 100 children through US surrogates. An ex-partner of Xu Bo who is involved in a custody suit against him has claimed that he has as many as 300 children. In a statement to Chinese media following a 2025 Wall Street Journal report regarding the vast number of children he has, Xu Bo claimed to have only 12 children through surrogates in the US. 

Judy said of the children Xu Bo has, “it feels like he’s creating an army. That’s crazy … I don’t understand what the motive is. I just know that it’s going to be hard for the children.” 

CBS News said that Judy is just one of 20 surrogates Xu Bo is working with at the moment. When Judy was reached out to regarding becoming a surrogate, she was told something “along the lines of just a single father looking to have a big family.” 

Judy is a single mother of a 7-year-old girl and had hoped the money she received from being a surrogate would help her family. “I just wanted to build a better life for me and my daughter. She had seen an ad on Instagram advertising $120,000 to become a surrogate. She signed a contract with Patriot Conceptions.

“The agency should've been very transparent from before getting matched … about who it is that you're having a baby for and what the family is," Judy said.

Judy, who was 12 weeks pregnant at the time of the interview, added “it’s just a really crappy thing to be a part of. I mean, you don’t even think like, this could be legal. Like, everyone every step of the way tells him yes and allows this, and is like, creating these agreements, and then it’s just up to the surrogate at that point who has half of the information.”

On Chinese social media, Xu Bo has posted a photo of over 100 young children seated in rows. A statement issued by Xu Bo days later read, “Mr. Xu Bo believes in the philosophy that more children bring more blessings, and he wishes for all his words and actions to benefit the long-term development of the Chinese nation.”

Social media posts verified as being his by the Wall Street Journal revealed Bo, who founded the online gaming company Duoyi, calls himself “China’s first father.” He wants to have at least “50 high-quality sons.” In one 2022 post on an account linked to Bo, dozens of young boys were seen inside of a mansion, who yell “daddy” in Chinese before running toward the cameraman. The caption read, “Imagine a bunch of babies rushing towards you—how does that feel? Take a look. Besides your loved one, what’s cuter than children?”
