The Capitol Police are pushing to set up field offices in what they claim is to further investigate any threats to Congress members.

This was highlighted in a report by the Daily Mail, who say that the FBI is still seeking out “more than 300” potential suspects over the events of January 6th. They estimate around 800 had been involved.

Despite that progress, the Capitol Police are expanding their powers permanently in response to what happened.

Back on Tuesday the agency published a press release detailing their plans moving forward.

"Throughout the last six months, the United States Capitol Police has been working around the clock with our Congressional stakeholders to support our officers, enhance security around the Capitol Complex, and pivot towards an intelligence-based protective agency."

It goes on to specify: “The Department is also in the process of opening Regional Field Offices in California and Florida with additional regions in the near future to investigate threats to Members of Congress.”

According to CBS they intend to act like the Secret Service in this regard rather than a standard police department. They also specify that the field offices will be set up in Tampa, Florida and San Francisco, California.

Elsewhere there’s several other items: morale-related attention, ramping up training exercises, streamlining the response process so the Capitol Police can act more quickly, and stepping up the expertise, manpower, and equipment capacities on hand.

The day of the announcement was intentional, as it was the six-month anniversary of the January 6th Capitol riot. The police weren’t the only ones making note of the occasion. President Biden issued a statement condemning the chaos at the Capitol building, and saying the USA is “so much better” than the events of that day.

Meanwhile a majority of Americans don’t even believe Biden is in charge of the White House policy and agenda, from a cognitive standpoint. On one hand, the current NSA has been caught in a controversy over alleged spying on the communications of Tucker Carlson.

On the other hand, as reported by Daily Beast, federal officials seized a Capitol building Lego set belonging to an accused January 6th riot leader.

It was highlighted by a former Pentagon official that the Trump administration had offered “thousands of National Guard” two days before the Capitol riot, but the Capitol Police and DC Mayor Bowser turned the offer down.
