BREAKING UPDATE:Video of the shooting involving an off-duty US Customs and Border Protection officer during an attempted robbery in New York City last night. One of the suspects has been identified as a previously deported Dominican national in the country illegally under President Joe Biden, with an active kidnapping warrant out of Massachusetts and prior felony arrests.

"NEW: DHS confirms that the suspect was caught and released at the border by the Biden administration in 2023. Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a Dominican illegal m alien, was arrested by Border Patrol near San Luis, AZ on 4/4/23, but was released into the US by the Biden admin," says Fox News' Bill Melugin.

President Trump also commented on the matter in a post to Truth Social: Last night, in New York City, an incredible CBP Officer was shot in the face by an Illegal Alien Monster freed into the Country under Joe Biden. He was apprehended at the Border in April 2023 but, instead of being deported, was RELEASED.

The CBP Officer bravely fought off his attacker, despite his wounds, demonstrating enormous Skill and Courage. The Democrats have flooded our Nation with Criminal Invaders, and now, they must all be thrown out or, in some cases, immediately prosecuted in that we cannot take a chance that they are able to come back. That's how evil and dangerous they are!

Original story below.

A US Customs and Border Protection officer was shot late Saturday night during a confrontation at Fort Washington Park in Manhattan, according to police sources. The officer, who was off duty at the time, was hit in the face and arm.

The incident occurred just before midnight near the base of the George Washington Bridge, close to the historic Little Red Lighthouse. NYPD officers arrived at the scene around 11:50 pm and found the 42-year-old victim with gunshot wounds. He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem in stable condition and is expected to survive.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute that escalated into gunfire between the officer and the suspects. Police said two individuals fled the scene on a motorized scooter. One of them has been apprehended, while the other remains at large.

Authorities are continuing to search for the second suspect and are reviewing surveillance footage and other evidence collected at the scene. The area is generally known for being calm, making the incident all the more alarming for locals and early-morning joggers.

“It’s very concerning. I was coming down here on the Greenway and I saw the crime scene,” said Marcelo Candeo of Englewood, New Jersey, to CBS News. “I’m very shocked and surprised. I hope he’s doing well and he gets a full recovery. I’m very shocked.”

Kips Bay resident Kovan Pillai said: “This is the most peaceful part of New York I can find, so it’s a shock to hear that anything like this happened. I have no idea what this place is like late at night, I imagine, now that you tell me this, that it’s probably not the safest of places to be.”

The NYPD has opened an investigation into the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
