COP26 serves leaders 'high-carbon' food despite climate fears

Meanwhile, the UN has urged ordinary people to start eating insects in order to combat climate change.

"Do as I say, not as I do." The menu being served to world leaders, journalists, and business moguls at the COP26 conference in Glasgow, UK is being criticized for not being particularly environmentally friendly.

The menu has been found to consist of 60 percent meat and dairy products that have been labelled as "high-carbon" products, according to the Big Issue. This is being served at nearly every food stand in the conference.

Burgers, venison, beef ramen, and the essential Scottish haggis were all listed as options, despite their enormous carbon footprint. This was especially odd as the conference teamed up with a Swedish company to list the carbon footprint of all the meals, yet they went ahead with their carnivorous feast anyway.

Meanwhile, the UN has urged ordinary people to start eating insects in order to combat climate change.

One climate activist said, "the utterly reckless inclusion of meat, seafood and dairy on the COP26 catering menu is a damning indictment of the UK government’s utter failure to grasp the root cause of the climate crisis."

"It’s like serving cigarettes at a lung cancer conference. As long as such illogical decisions are being made, the climate emergency will never be resolved," he added.

Much of the Canadian elite has been invited to COP26 with attendees including Justin Trudeau, Mark Carney, Catherine McKenna, and an entire government communications team.
