Crash involving stolen police cruiser injures three in Whitby, Ontario

The driver of the stolen cruiser, a 30-year-old man, was injured in the crash, as was a 69-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy in the other vehicle.

A Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after a stolen police cruiser was involved in a crash in Whitby which injured three people, CP24 reports.

The cruiser was stolen after Durham Police were called to investigate a suspicious person on Sunday evening. After the cruiser was stolen, police engaged in a pursuit with the vehicle.

At around 7:30 pm, the stolen cruiser collided with a civilian vehicle. It is unclear if the collision took place during the pursuit.

investigators, including forensic investigators, and a collision reconstructionist have been assigned to investigate the case.

Those with information regarding the collision have been asked to contact the chief investigator.
