On Thursday, James Lindsay, a critical race theory critic, had multiple tweets condemning "groomer" behavior flagged by Twitter, with an added statement from Twitter that the tweets may withheld from viewers in Germany.
On Thursday evening, Lindsay was locked out of his account for 12 hours due to several posts in which he responded simply, "Ok groomer," a play on "Ok boomer," to tweets defending the teaching and pushing of gender identities in schools.
In a messaged received from Twitter earlier in the day, they stated that they had received a complaint regarding two of these "Ok groomer" posts. They wrote: "In order to determine appropriate action, we need you to provide information on the veracity of this content within the next 24 hours. If we don't hear from you and are unable to ascertain the veracity of this Tweet, we may withhold this content in Germany."
This complaint came in regards to two posts that he responded to, one in which the user said "so straight stories for kids are fine but gender queer ones is grooming?" And in another, the user stated that "protecting the children" was a talking point invoked by anti-gay advocates.
Twitter suspended his account later in the evening, stating that a tweet of his violated the social media company's hateful conduct rules.
"You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease," the rule states.
Twitter stated that Lindsay's 12-hour suspension would begin counting down only once he had deleted the tweet.
The Post Millennial reached out to Lindsay, who said "This should be extremely concerning to everyone."
Some of his "Ok groomer" tweets are still live on his account, including the following:
