EXCLUSIVE: Kirk Cameron tells TPM ‘parents need to become the executive producers of their children’s programming,’ launches new TV show with Brave Books

Leading from the tradition of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, the show will be crowdfunded so that parents can be involved from the ground level. Actress Leigh-Allyn Baker, who plays "Creative Leigh" in the series, told The Post Millennial that "Parents need to become the executive producers of their children's programming."

"We cannot leave this in the hands of corporations," she said.

Cameron has been a big part of making that change in children's content. He made the decision to break away from a successful Hollywood career and begin a new journey based in Christian values. When asked about how he came to make that decision, he told The Post Millennial that he had to make the decision once he was faced with the reality of what was happening to our culture.

He referenced an iconic scene from Lord of the Rings where lead character Frodo realizes, with the help of his mentor Gandalf, that no one wishes to face the trial, but that when it comes, we must do so. We are called, Cameron said, we do not necessarily get to choose.

Riffing on the famous fourth turning concept concept that strong men produce good times, good times produce weak men, week men produce hard times, which in turn produce strong men, Cameron said "we are in difficult times and these are in fact producing strong moms and dads."

"Our hearts are saying we want to be part of a renewal, a resurgence of the good, right and true, and I'm really excited about that. It's challenging, it's difficult, but I think that these are the times that get written about. These are the things in history books where difficult times produce strength of character," Cameron said.

"I am others are feeling the rumblings, of an awakening happening in the country," he said. "And I'm just really grateful to be a small part of it. We, together with Brave Books, have been sending little shockwaves throughout the culture. And it's awakening others to join in the fight for the future."

Adventures with Mr. Kirk and Iggy is already underway with Cameron, Baker, and Brave Books. It's set to begin production in May and release to viewers in August. The first episodes will be free so that families don't have to jump through hoops to access wholesome content that aligns with their values, not those of Hollywood elites and corporate entities intent on remaking the foundational principles of American society.

The series will then be available as part of Brave Books Freedom Island Club, which delivers books and other content as well. When families sign up for the book club, they will have access to the show as well.
