Succession star Brian Cox slams woke culture as ‘truly awful’ and blasts millennials for ‘shaming culture’

The Scottish born actor blasted millennials as "arbiters of this shaming," saying that the pushers of cancel culture are "usually a bunch of millennials." He blamed much of the shaming culture on social media "I don't think social media helps, I think it hinders rather than helps."

In the now viral TV appearance, host Piers Morgan joins Cox in blasting woke culture "And the shaming culture, which I really feel quite strongly about, this incessant need to shame and bury people" to which the actor replies "the whole woke culture is truly awful."

Cox's comments hitting out at woke culture had many social media users praising him for speaking out despite his history of left-leaning political views. Meghan McCain praised the actor "Like I couldn't love Brian Cox more…! Excellent interview" and conservative commentator Danny De Urbina tweeted "Another reason why Succession is the greatest show released in recent television."

The actor's comments won praise with Fox News' The Five co-host Dana Perino who branded him "refreshing" despite the actor's previous comments in 2021 criticizing the network, which co-host Greg Gutfeld read out loud on air "I don't even go there, because that's, like, the devil" before Gutfeld said he took it "as a compliment."

The actor's Piers Morgan interview came as a surprise to many given his liberal political views, with Cox previously describing himself as "fairly left wing" during a 2021 CNBC interview in which he proudly proclaimed "I love CNN." His comments have also contrasted with the Scottish star's support for Scotland's SNP governing political party which has been accused of pushing wokeism to extremes.

The party, which has controlled the Scottish government since 2007, sparked outrage in December last year for passing the Gender Recognition Reform Bill, allowing anyone to self-identify, legally change gender and men to access women's spaces from as young as 16. At the time the actor praised the legislation saying he was 'proud' of it during a BBC interview stating "I'm very, very proud of Scotland for doing the gender identification Act, because I think that's long needed and it's a debate that has to happen."

The bill sparked further furor when it was revealed that over a dozen trans-identified male sex offenders were being housed in womens prisons including double rapist Isla Bryson who only transitioned after committing their crimes.
