Trump admin proudly celebrates Columbus Day among Democrat haters who promote ‘indigenous’ day
“Those days of plunder are over, and the statues are back, more magnificent than ever. This is a big day for our great Italian American Community, and the Country of Italy itself, maybe the biggest.”
Monday marked Columbus Day, a day dedicated to the Italian explorer who famously sailed across the Atlantic and landed in the Americas in 1492, which left-wing officials in recent years have been replacing with the celebration of “Indigenous People’s Day.”
Trump wrote, “HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY TO ALL, in particular our great Italian American Community which was forced to suffer as the Radical Left Dumocrats, Socialists, and Communists rampaged through our cities and towns ripping down almost all of the beautiful statues of Christopher Columbus. Well, those days of plunder are over, and the statues are back, more magnificent than ever. This is a big day for our great Italian American Community, and the Country of Italy itself, maybe the biggest. Congratulations!”
Senator Jim Banks noted that Columbus Circle outside of Washington, DC’s Union Station, which had been covered in graffiti under the Biden administration, and the fountain at which had not been running in nearly two decades, had been restored under Trump.
The official White House X account posted that “in this Administration, Christopher Columbus is a hero,” while the Department of War wrote, “Happy Columbus Day.”
In Trump’s first year back in office, Trump signed a proclamation declaring Columbus Day was “back.” In 2021, Biden became the first president to mark Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The holiday continued to occur alongside Columbus Day under the Biden administration, with his 2024 proclamation on the matter stating, "On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor Indigenous peoples’ strength, courage, and resilience. We celebrate the vast contributions of Indigenous communities to the world. And we recommit to respecting Tribal sovereignty and self-determination and working to usher in a new era of our Nation-to-Nation relationships."
Other government officials and agencies posted celebratory posts marking the day.
Democrats, on the other hand, marked the day as “Indigenous People’s Day” instead. The Democrat Party wrote, “On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we celebrate and honor the rich traditions, contributions, and cultures of our country’s Indigenous communities and Tribal Nations.”
Socialist NYC Mayor Zohran Mandani wrote, “Kuwiinguneewul! Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day to the Indigenous New Yorkers who continue to shape our city, sustain ancestral traditions, and carry forward generations of resilience.”
Rep. Nancy Pelosi wrote, “On #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we celebrate the rich cultures and enduring contributions of Indigenous peoples. Today and every day, we reaffirm our respect for Tribal sovereignty and our commitment to health care, education and economic opportunity for all Tribal communities.”
