Texas Dem Senate hopeful James Talarico has only one checking account and he shares it with his mom: report

It’s been revealed that Democrat Senate candidate in Texas James Talarico, aged 37, shares his only checking account with his mother. The account, which holds up to $50,000, has shown that his mother has been a frequent contributor to his campaign and pitched in to help Talarico with moving costs when he was 32.

"And one thing, these far-left Democrats and socialists, you know, they wanna run massive government budgets, but they can’t quite manage their own — they’re still relying on mom and dad to pay their own bills. She even covered nearly $1,500 in moving expenses a few years ago when he was 32 years old,” Fox News host Joey Jones said about the report.

According to reporting by the Free Beacon, Talarico's personal financial disclosures show a Wells Fargo checking account with a balance in the thousands. The disclosure revealed that while Talarico is unmarried, the account is filed as jointly owned. A filer comment under the disclosure adds context suggesting the account is owned by the filer and the filer's mother.

Records obtained by the outlet also show that Talarico's parents contributed $5,000 each to his campaign for state representative in 2021, records show. The same year, Talarico reported an in-kind campaign contribution of more than $1,000 from his parents for "moving expenses." Talarico was 32 years old at the time.

Tamara Talarico is in her early 60s and appears to be in good health, according to the Beacon. She has previously marched in a “No Kings” protest in October 2025 and is married to Talarico’s adoptive father, Mark Talarico.

This comes as Talarico and his Republican opponent Ken Paxton set to spar for the open Senate seat in Texas come November. Talarico’s campaign, while experiencing some tailwinds, is expected to face an extremely challenging battle against Paxton, who has already been elected to statewide office as attorney general.
