Dem lawmakers under 24/7 security after telling troops to 'refuse illegal orders': report

Several Democrat lawmakers who released a video urging military members to not obey "illegal orders" from the Trump administration have now taken on 24/7 security after the president accused them of "seditious behavior" because of the video, according to the New York Post. “Capitol Police came to us and said, ‘We’re gonna put you on 24/7 security,'” Democrat Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) said when she appeared on MS NOW's "All In with Chris Hayes."

Slotkin, as well as Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Reps. Chris Deluzio (D-PA), Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), Maggie Goodlander (D_NH), and Jason Crow (D-CO) put together a 60 second video where all of them told US servicemembers and those in the intelligence community: “Right now, the threats to our Constitution aren’t just coming from abroad, but from right here at home. Our laws are clear. You can refuse illegal orders … you must refuse illegal orders."

After the video was released, Trump posted on Truth Social, “Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand – We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET.

“SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!” Trump said in another post.

Slotkin added in her interview with Hayes, "We’ve got law enforcement out in front of my house. I mean, it changes things immediately. And leadership climate is set from the top. And if the president is saying you should be hanged, then we shouldn’t be surprised when folks on the ground are going to follow suit and say even worse.”

After the posts, Trump also shared a post from an account on Truth Social that stated, “Hang them George Washington would!!"

Slotkin is a former CIA analyst, who also worked at the State Department under the Obama administration. The other five lawmakers have similar or military experience.
