A Texas Democrat who ran unsuccessfully for Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw's seat in 2020 mocked the congressman's eyesight in a series of tweets posted Monday.

Crenshaw slammed Sen. Elizabeth Warren's tweet claiming the Republican Party thinks the only way the GOP can win is preventing Americans from voting.

He fired back, stating that Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey should place a fact-check notice on the senator's tweet, since the claim isn't just "disputed or misleading" but "a blatant lie." Crenshaw then questioned Twitter's double standards.

Texas Democrat Elisa Cardnell responded to Crenshaw, saying Monday that "The reason you can't see the objective truth isn't because of your eyes; its because how far you have your nose up your Dear Leader's a$$."

Twitter users were able to get screenshots of Cardnell's tweets before her account went private. The two went back and forth, with Crenshaw quipping in return: "Actually, it’s just 'eye,' singular."

"Well, I ran out of characters to say 'eyes, or lack thereof.'" Cardnell said.

Crenshaw snapped back at Cardnell, replying: "Bless your heart. Please pray for this woman."

Crenshaw lost his right eye to an IED blast while deployed as a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan in 2012. The blast left his right eye badly damaged.

Earlier this year, complications with his remaining eye left Crenshaw off Twitter while doctors worked to save it. "Back in January, I had some flashes off to the corner of my vision," Crenshaw said in mid-May. "Imagine looking at a screen too long and maybe some distortions associated with that … that blinking, that's sort of what I saw … I was really confronted with permanent blindness this time because a retinal detachment is very, very dangerous."

"Wear a dive mask, put some bubble bath in it and rub the lenses with Vaseline and that’s sort of what I see," Crenshaw continued, describing what vision he was dealing with in his remaining eye. Users on Twitter defended Crenshaw, slamming Cardnell for her comments and subsequent locking of her account.
