Former CNN host Don Lemon appeared on the next work on Monday to speak out against former President Donald Trump for causing a second assassination attempt on his own life. On Sunday, a gunman lay in wait for 12 hours on Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, the barrel of a long rifle with scope propped through the fence, before he was spotted by Secret Service agents who fired at him and scared him off.

Lemon said "the effort is right" to "lower the temperature" on political rhetoric in America and as we enter the final days of this bizarre election season, "but," he continued, "Donald Trump, and his folks, to say, and JD Vance, that it's Democrats that are causing this..." Lemon turned to his notes and began to read. Hillary Clinton made the same assertions on Rachel Maddow's MSNBC show on Monday night.

"So," Lemon began, "he's called everyone who works in this building the enemy of the people, right? We had pipe bombs sent because he kept calling us the enemy of the people. And that CNN was fake news." Packages containing "pyrotechnic powder" were sent to many elected officials and former officials of the US government in 2018 by Cesar Sayoc. None of them exploded despite being "handled through the postal system – jostled and moved" and all were intercepted before they reached a target.

Trump spoke against it at the time, saying "The full weight of our government is being deployed to conduct this investigation and bring those responsible for these despicable acts to justice. We will spare no resources or expense in this effort. And I just want to tell you that, in these times, we have to unify. We have to come together, and send one very clear, strong, unmistakable message that acts or threats of political violence of any kind have no place in the United States of America."

Joe Biden blamed Trump, saying, "We’ve got to turn off this hate machine. We’ve got to come together. The American public … all over the nation … people want us to be more civil. People want us to choose hope over hate. They want us to choose – for real – I mean, it’s guttural. People understand that words matter. Words matter."

"Crooked Joe, Crooked Hillary, Crooked Kamala, Comrade Kamala, deranged. Jack Smith, Bird Brain Nikki Haley," Lemon rattled off, noting the nicknames Trump has had for some of his opponents.

"Bloodbath," he said, repeating the false claim that Trump called for a "bloodbath" if he was not elected in 2024. Instead, Trump said that there would be a "bloodbath" of American jobs in the auto industry if Kamala Harris and Joe Biden had their way with EV mandates.

"If he's not elected, there won't be another election" Lemon read off his notes, though this, too, was a false claim. Trump was saying at the time that he doesn't care if people vote again in 2028 so long as they vote for him in 2024.

"If he's not elected, bringing drugs or bringing crime, they're rapists, poisoning the blood of our country, destroying the blood of our country," Lemon said, "which was something that was Hitler-esque. Communist, Marxist, fascist, left-leaning that live like vermin, sons of bitches to NBA players, shithole countries—Haiti was one, and now he's blaming Haitian immigrants for things. Blood coming out of her wherever, as he talked about Megyn Kelly." Marco Rubio and others clarified these comments, but the increase in illegal immigration, over 2 million each year since Biden took office while it was less than 500,000 under Trump's last year in office, is a concern to voters.

Recent reports of gang activity perpetrated by individuals who crossed either illegally or through one of the many Biden-Harris programs allowing in foreign persons for asylum, refugee, or protected status have increased and there have been numerous reports of rapes, murders, and child abuse perpetrated by those who enter illegally or through these programs. The parole program for those who hail from Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Haiti was briefly shut down because of apparent rampant fraud.

"And so, if Donald Trump wants people, wants Kamala Harris and others to say, to stop saying that he is a threat to democracy," Lemon surmised, "then he should stop threatening democracy. Perhaps he shouldn't be overturning, trying to overturn elections overthrow the government and inciting insurrections if he doesn't want people to be honest about what he is who he is and what he's doing."

In other words, who is to blame for violence against Trump? For Lemon, and so many others in media, it's Trump.
