SpaceX and Tesla magnate Elon Musk tweeted early on Thursday morning a very simple message encouraging users to use a messaging app called Signal.

Musk simply says in his tweet: "Use Signal".

One follower of his replied just as simply:

"Your timing is sus."

Signal is an app similar to Facetime or WhatsApp, which are hugely popular worldwide, and shares all of their features, as well as manages text messages for you.

It's proponents claim that the encryption used by Signal is the best out there, and that it is great for stopping people, entities and algorithms from spying on your personal conversations.

There is also lots of concern worldwide these days about internet censorship, as Twitter just banned the account of the President of the United States on Wednesday in the middle of a national crisis.

People are more and more starting to look at alternatives to the popular cadre of social media sites, such as Rumble and Parler, in an effort to get away from what they see as the prevalent and increasingly severe media bias and censorship on many of these online platforms.
