In the latest in his series of public political takes, X owner Elon Musk remarked about how crazy he thinks it is that people in the United States can in many cases vote without a government-issued ID as well as mail ballots in.

The tech mogul has in recent times made numerous other comments about controversial processes facilitated by the US government, especially regarding the crisis at the US southern border. Last Thursday he declared that "At this point, there is no question that this administration is actively facilitating illegal immigration," and noted that the "numbers speak for themselves."
A few months prior, Musk revealed in September that he would take a trip to Eagle Pass, Texas after a conversation he had about the illegal immigration issue with Texas GOP Representative Tony Gonzales.
Data from US Customs and Border Protection has revealed that there have been over 2 million illegal crossings within the past year, with more than 6 million encounters since Joe Biden first assumed office in 2021.
In December, Border Patrol agents observed over 300,000 encounters with illegal immigrants, topping the previous monthly record of 269,735, which was set just a couple of months prior in September.
