"The final step for DOGE is to delete itself," Musk said.
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the two business moguls that President-elect Donald Trump has nominated to lead the non-governmental entity called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have said that DOGE will "delete itself" on its expiration date of July 4, 2026.
Ramaswamy posted on X about the need for limits to government programs and said, "Most government projects should come with a clear expiry date. That’s why we set one for DOGE: July 4, 2026."
Musk replied to Ramaswamy, quoting the post and adding, "The final step for DOGE is to delete itself."
The mission of the entity, which will not be established as part of the Trump administration in an official capacity, is to make recommendations to the Trump administration for slashing regulations, red tape, and government waste at the various levels of the federal government.
When Trump announced the project earlier in November the president-elect stated, "Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies - Essential to the 'Save America' Movement." At the time, Trump said that DOGE would be something of the "'The Manhattan Project' of our time."
Trump said the agency will work with the "White House and Office of Management & Budget to drive large scale structural reform, and create an entrepreneurial approach to Government never seen before."
Since the organization was coined, DOGE has been posting examples of government waste on social media as well as commenting on news stories that have highlighted such fiscal mishaps as the Pentagon missing its 7th audit in a row.
One of the organization's latest examples posted to X about government waste was how the National Institute of Health "spent $1.8 billion studying racism" and highlighted that among other costs, $125,000 was spent on "Examining Anti-Racist Healing in Nature" as well as $516,000 on the "Effects of Racism on Brain and Pathways to Health Disparities."

This is going to motivate the left to do their best to stonewall them at every opportunity. To try to minimize their effectiveness before they shut down.
