Georgia's Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene brought a resolution to the House floor to impeach DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. And this time, it's personal. Two of her constituents are dead because of his poor management of the US-Mexico border, and she is determined to hold him accountable. The resolution calls for his impeachment for "high crimes and misdemeanors."

An elderly American couple from Dalton, Georgia were killed yesterday in Batesville, Texas. They died when their car was hit by a vehicle full of illegal immigrants from Honduras, being driven by a human smuggler from Houston. Everyone in both vehicles, eight people altogether, were killed in the crash.

Jose and Isabel Lerma were from Marjorie Taylor Greene's district, and they were driving to Mexico from their home in Georgia when they were struck and killed. Human smugglers are often Americans who are enlisted by cartels to pick up illegal immigrants from near the border and drop them off at their next stop, where they are ferried further into the country by additional smugglers paid by the cartels.

None of this would be happening were it not for Biden's border crisis, a disastrous open immigration policy that has seen some 8 million illegal immigrants apprehended at the border since he took the White House in 2021.

Those apprehended are typically given a court date for some years into the future and released into the country. They are not, primarily, turned back. For contrast, less than 500,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended at the US-Mexico border during Trump's last year in office.

"Rather than adhering to an oath he took to defend and secure our country and uphold the Constitution when he was sworn in and Secretary of Homeland Security," Greene states, "Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas has engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with the laws of the United States."

Greene states that he has not executed the laws passed by Congress, and has not maintained "operational control over the entire international land and maritime borders of the United States."

"In his willful admittance of border crossers, terrorists, human traffickers, drugs, and other contraband," she states, he has failed to uphold the Secure Fence Act of 2006. Mayorkas has not protected the nation against invasion, she states, having allowed some 10 million illegal border crossers into the country.

"The ongoing invasion at our southern border is a direct national security threat against the States and against the citizens therein. Secretary Mayorkas has willfully abandoned his duty to secure the border and protect States against invasion, thereby violating article IV, section 4 of the Constitution," Greene affirms.

This includes at least 280 people on the terrorist watchlist caught entering the country, and 400,000 unaccompanied minor children. At least 85,000 of these children are now missing in the US, and the DHS has washed their hands of them as soon as they handed them off to a "sponsor," many of whom are barely vetted, if at all. There have been nearly 1,500 deaths of illegal immigrants attempting to cross the border, and 73,000 "special interest aliens," Greene states in her argument to get Mayorkas out of office.

Fentanyl is coming across the border, along with terrorists, those who are of special interest, and literally millions of people who have taken advantage of Biden's failures to enter the US with impunity.

At each step of the way, Greene alleges, Mayorkas has been derelict in his duty. He has practiced catch-and-release, where illegal immigrants are apprehended and turned loose in the United States, he has halted construction on a border wall, ended Migrant Protection Protocols, and made it easier for illegal immigrants and smugglers to gain entry to the US, and harder for Border Control to deport them.

"Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas, in his inability to enforce the law, has engaged in a pattern of conduct that
is incompatible with his duties as a civil officer of the United States," she states.

When DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was questioned about the border problems in the Senate, he said the situation at the border is not a "disaster." Instead, he said "No, the disaster is that we have a broken immigration system that we cannot seem to fix."

It was Mayorkas who told would-be illegal immigrants "we're not saying don't come, we're saying don't come now," shortly after Biden took office, in the spring of 2021.
