In an interview with Patrick Senior Advisor to Secretary of War Patrick Weaver, The Post Millennial has learned that in other cities aside from Washington, DC, there will likely be other long-term deployments of the National Guard to assist with Immigration and Customs Enforcement around the country.

Weaver, who advises DoW Secretary Pete Hegseth on issues pertaining to the southern border as well as immigration enforcement in coordination with the DoW, said when asked about the prospect of having the National Guard in some cities to help with immigration enforcement, said, "When it comes to supporting ICE, I think it will be a long-term mission for the Department in line with the President to support his mission of deporting illegal migrants."

When asked for which cities may see the more long-term presence of ICE, such as Chicago or Los Angeles, he said that it is still unclear on where that long-term assistance will take, place, citing that in Chicago, the Trump administration is still waiting on the Supreme Court decision on the issue to come down.

"Right now, we're waiting for the Supreme Court to roll on our case in Chicago. It is the President's goal to bring law and order to Chicago, so we're hoping that the Supreme Court rules soon and we get a decision on that's everything," Weaver told TPM.

Throughout Trump's second term, he has taken a number of steps in order to deport illegal immigrants from the country, including using the National Guard to support the mission of ICE in various cities around the county. Some examples have included Chicago, Portland, Los Angeles, Memphis, and others.

The adviser also cleared up some misconceptions about the National Guard in relation to ICE, and said that while some have argued that the troops have been "running around uncontrolled," the National Guardsman have been "helping process those illegal migrants" while "ICE maintains a chain of custody for all of these illegals the entire time."

Weaver also spoke to TPM about the new Mexican Border Defense Medal for service members supporting the mission of protecting the US border.

Modeled after the original medal established in 1918, the new rendition is made from bronze, and has an inscription that reads, "For Service on the Mexican Border."
