On Tuesday, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) dropped the latest round of Facebook Files, this time focusing on the tech giant's decision to censor Americans at the behest of the Biden regime, which relied on verifiably false statistics from a British non-profit about the so-called "disinformation dozen."
The group of 12, which included Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr, was routinely cited as being responsible for 65 percent of all "anti‑vaccine content circulating on social media," however internal Facebook communications revealed that the company knew the actual figure was much lower, around 0.05 percent. Nonetheless, they abided by the government's wishes, and took "aggressive actions" against the bunch.
When discussing the "Disinfo Dozen" claims pushed by the UK-based Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), Facebook employees admitted that while some accounts were "bad," others were "completely benign." In one email, it was pointed out that much of the content being labeled "misinfo" was actually just "vaccine hesitancy."
In April 2021, a month after the CCDH published its report, Facebook employees wrote to CEO Mark Zuckerberg asking for "guidance." They explained that while six of the accounts belonging to the "disinformation dozen" did violate company policies and would be removed, the remaining ones did not. Employees stated that they "do not believe we currently have a clear path for removal of these" accounts.
Further internal communication revealed that employees were skeptical of the government's apparent belief that banning the 12 people in question would rid social media of vaccine disinformation. "It unfortunately isn't that simple," one wrote.
The Biden regime continued pressuring Facebook to censor the accounts, even going so far as to call for the removal of external links they posted, a policy the company reserves for content violating child safety or dangerous organizational regulations. Content linking to Kennedy's Children's Health Defense Foundation was among those targeted.
It was later revealed that Facebook had been censoring the group's accounts since March 2021, and eventually took "aggressive action" against all but one of them by July of that year.
Despite being false, the "65 percent" statistic had "unrelenting staying power," and was "routinely cited in the press," much to the chagrin of Facebook employees, who nonetheless "tailored" solutions to the White House's concerns.
"That's how the censorship regime works," Jordan said. "Foreign activists at the CCDH feed false info to the Biden White House. The Biden Admin then uses the full weight of the federal govt to coerce Facebook to censor Americans, Biden's critics and political opponents, and the truth."
He announced that the House Judiciary Committee had issued subpoenas to the CCDH to "determine its role in the censorship regime."
