The pandemic has changed many things this year, including the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. And, unfortunately, many of these changes are not positive.

A clip shows Ronald McDonald riding on an unusually fast-moving float in the parade with his buddy, Grimace. However, the iconic fast-food clown is wearing what many are calling a creepy and "psychotic" face shield.

As can be seen in the video, the face shield is conical in shape, like the cones a veterinarian would put on someone's pet. However, this cone is closer to Ronald's face and transparent .

Reactions on social media were overwhelmingly negative:

"Gonna have nightmares now"

"Everyones face after seeing Ronald McDonald"

"we truly are in hell arent we"

"I'm confused what he's doing here. Like all of it."

Also, right at the beginning, the grinning clown throws up some sort of a hand sign. It's inconclusive what this sign may actually mean, if anything, but some tweeters commented:

"Throwing up Illuminati."

"Ronald reppin the set throwing up them signs. Gang s**t"

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, held annually in New York City, was reimagined as a stand-alone event due to coronavirus concerns.
