Left-wing agitators connected to the pro-Palestinian group "People's University for Gaza at UBC" stuck a severed pig head on a fence at the University of British Columbia along with a sign that demanded "Pigs off our campus."

The People's University for Gaza at UBC group has made a list of demands, one of them being, "Keep cops off our campus. The [Royal Canadian Mounted Police] RCMP engages in suppression and violence against BIPOC and other marginalized communities."

A left-wing supporter of the demonstration with the pig's head only took issue that the pig "died in slavery." The post along with the severed pig head stated, "Let it be clear, as we begin this new academic year we remain steadfast in our commitment to hold UBC accountable for its complicity in this on-going genocide. UBC will not know peace until we get Palestine back, piece by piece."

It further added, "Pigs OFF campus is one of our demands. KKKanada and 'Isra-hell' are both shared violent settler colonial projects built on the removal of Indigenous peoples from their land with the use of police forces."

"As the IOF (sic) continues to invade Palestinian schools and shoot at youth, the RCMP similarly continues to murder Indigenous youth here, like the recent shooting of the 15-year-old from the Samson Cree Nation, Hoss Lighting."

The group added that the university president announced over the summer that there would be more campus security. However, the People's University for Gaza at UBC stated the efforts "will not intimidate" them. As a call to action for its leftist followers, it asked them to "take more action this year," adding, "Find your comrades, wear your kuffiyehs (sic) everyday, learn beyond these classroom walls, and shut this campus down!"

The leftist group was part of an effort in the spring and summer to have a Gaza encampment on campus to protest the Israel-Hamas war. It lasted for over two months, according to the CBC.

If Hamas was serious about a cease-fire then get back to the bargaining table, release the hostages and get serious about maintaining the peace. Hamas does not show good faith by executing hostages just to make their opponents look bad. Israel is not going anywhere soon, so all parties need to get serious about settling their differences and stop the killing.
