'Fauci Files' to be released this week: Elon Musk

When one Twitter user wrote, "Waiting… … for #FauciFiles," Musk replied, "Later this week."

Twitter CEO Elon Musk teased on Sunday that the next reveal on the social media platform would focus on the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci.

Musk posted on Sunday, "Hope you’re having a great day 1 2023! One thing’s for sure, it won’t be boring."

Bill Clinton accuser Juanita Broaddrick replied to Musk, "Waiting… … for #FauciFiles."

Musk replied, "Later this week."

Last month, Musk tapped a group of journalists to cover the what's become known as the Twitter Files, in which Bari Weiss' The Free Press and independent journalist Matt Taibbi has devled into the internal communcations at Twitter to uncover the inner workings of the decision making processes at the site.

So far, they have exposed how the social media platform censored former President Donald Trump and the censorship as well as the New York Post's reporing about Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop, which showed evidence of influence peddling on the Biden family name while now-President Joe Biden was in office as Vice President. The laptop was apparently censored at the urging of the FBI.

The most recent chapter of the Twitter Files focused on how both the Trump and Biden administrations used the platform to censor content involving the COVID-19 pandemic. Trump urged Twitter to downplay the runs on supermarkets and supplies at the beginning of the pandemic so as to avoid panic buying. Biden used the platform to suppress and censor anyone who disagreed with his administration on Covid restrictions and vaccine efficacy.

Before the start of the new year, Musk said that Twitter employees had an internal "Fauci Fan Club," and tweeted that the social media company’s new policy was "to follow the science, which necessarily includes reasoned questioning of the science."

Fauci retired as head of the NIH at the end of 2022. Congressional Republicans have said they will call on Fauci to testify as they investigate the federal government’s botched response to the COVID pandemic.

In November, Fauci was deposed by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry regarding the censorship of those on social media questioning the government's narrative on the pandemic. According to Landry, “over the course of seven hours, we discovered that he can’t recall practically anything dealing with his COVID response.”
