"Because even though for the general population it might be 90 to 95 percent effective, you don’t necessarily know for you how effective it is."

Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday that he believes it will be necessary for Americans to continue taking COVID-19 precautions, including wearing masks and practicing social distancing, even after receiving a vaccine. He reasoned that people don't know for sure whether or not the vaccine will work for them.

When CNN anchor Jake Tapper asked Fauci if masks and distancing would be necessary after receiving a vaccine, Fauci replied "I would recommend to people to not to abandon all public health measures just because you’ve been vaccinated."

"Because even though for the general population it might be 90 to 95 percent effective, you don’t necessarily know for you how effective it is," Fauci added, as highlighted by the New York Post.

"I can feel more relaxed in essentially not having the stringency that we have right now, but I think abandoning it completely would not be a good idea," Fauci said.
