Google is pausing its Gemini's AI image creator after the software began to create inaccurate images of white historical figures, depicting them as people of color.

This drew criticism from X owner and xAI competitor Elon Musk who called Google's AI software "woke" and "racist."

Google said in a statement on X that they are working to address the issue.

"We're already working to address recent issues with Gemini’s image generation feature. While we do this, we’re going to pause the image generation of people and will re-release an improved version soon," said Google.

Many on X were quick to point out the left-wing bias of the Google AI head, Jack Krawczyk. Users on X asserted that the company inadvertently created this controversy in an effort to challenge gender and racial stereotypes by removing the Artificial Intelligence's ability to generate images of white people.

For example, Google's AI chatbot created racially diverse images of the US Founding Fathers, Vikings, the Pope, and more.

Krawczyk said in a post on X that the company takes representation and bias very seriously when it comes to their products. His account has been made private after the media storm around the controversy.

"As part of our AI principles…we design our image generation capabilities to reflect our global user base, and we take representation and bias seriously," said Krawczyk.

It was later revealed that Krawczyk, who is a white male, has an extreme bias towards white people and has radical left-leaning views. He is seemingly obsessed with race and has posted on social media about white privilege and systemic racism. He also has claimed that America is a racist country.

Amidst the controversy, Musk pushed his more than 173 million followers toward his xAI company's chatbot Grok, which is similar to Google's Gemini.

"Perhaps it is now clear why xAI's Grok is so important. It is far from perfect right now, but will improve rapidly. V1.5 releases in 2 weeks. Rigorous pursuit of the truth, without regard to criticism, has never been more essential," wrote Musk.
