"Because I might have a better shot of reasoning with the bear," Gov. Whitmer said.
During an appearance on the Chip Chat podcast with host Liz Plank, the podcaster praised the Democrat governor for her "superhuman" leadership in the state, and asked her to share thoughts about Republican President Donald Trump, who Plank described as a "liar."
"Speaking of men who lie, would you rather be in a forest alone with Donald Trump or with a bear?" Plank asked Whitmer.
Whitmer responded, "A bear."
Seeking confirmation, the host questioned the governor again and said: "A bear?"
"Yes!" Whitmer asserted with a smile on her face. The host asked Whitmer to explain why she chose her answer. "Because I might have a better shot of reasoning with the bear," Gov. Whitmer said. The podcaster then asked Whitmer about the upcoming 2024 US Presidential Election and why voters should support VP Kamala Harris over Trump, specifically male voters.
"What would you say to a man who feels like he can't vote for a woman, he can't vote for Kamala Harris?" Plank asked.
"We deserve and need a commander-in-chief who is tough," said Gov. Whitmer. "We're going to have to deal with the worst of the worst bullies around the globe. From Vladimir Putin to Chinese leadership to what's happening in North Korea. We've got to have a tough commander-in-chief, not someone who kowtows....or who is on an ego trip."
During the episode, the pair discussed other topics including abortion in which the Michigan Gov. joked about giving her daughters "post-birth abortions" and falsely claimed that such procedures do not exist in the United States. Michigan has no limits on abortion, meaning that women can request the procedure through their 9th month. Whitmer then praised Democratic lawmakers across the country saying, "Democrats want to solve problems" while Republicans do not.
